Role Overview

As a Data Engineer – Oracle to SQL Migration, you will be responsible for migrating legacy Oracle databases and applications to Microsoft SQL Server. This role involves working with large datasets, legacy systems, ETL tools, and reporting platforms like SSRS. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth and reliable migration process that aligns with performance and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end migration of Oracle databases to SQL Server, including schema conversion, data transformation, and performance optimization.

• Rewrite and refactor Oracle Forms into modern SQL Server-compatible logic or applications.

• Create and validate SSRS reports as part of the migration or replacement of legacy reporting tools.

• Work with ETL tools to extract, transform, and load data from Oracle to SQL Server while maintaining data quality and integrity.

• Conduct unit testing, performance tuning, and validation for all migrated components.

• Collaborate with business analysts, DBAs, and developers to gather requirements and understand business logic.

• Document all technical processes, transformations, and migration procedures.

Technical Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle 10g/11g/12c and SQL Server 2016 or later.

• In-depth understanding of stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views in both platforms.

• Familiarity with reporting and dashboarding tools (preferably SSRS).

• Exposure to scheduling/orchestration tools and job monitoring for ETL processes.
